Gloriously illustrated and impressive in scope, this book represents a comprehensive overview of ancient Nubia. It opens with a thematic survey with contributors addressing topics such as the rediscovery of ancient Nubia and the development of archaeological work there, including the widespread destruction in the wake of the construction of the Aswan and Merowe dam, its physical geography, and historical outline.
