The full story of the IRA bombing campaign of 1974-75 with its startling culmination in the Balcombe Street siege. The Guildford pub bombings took place in October 1974. A year later four individuals - Paddy Armstrong, Gerry Conlon, Paul Hill and Carole Richards who became known as the Guildford Four - were accused of carrying out the bombings for the Provisional Irish Republican Army (IRA). Under severe interrogation the defendants confessed, later retracting those confessions in court. They were given some of the longest prison sentences ever imposed in Britain This is the book that campaigned for their innocence. Featuring fresh material, including documents revealing that the police knew who the bombers were before the original trial. It also shows how the police passed information to the DPP who chose not to share it with the Defence at the trial.
