Gentle Giant

The incredible story of footballing icon John Charles, from his upbringing in a tough Welsh mining community to superstardom with Wales and Italian football royalty Juventus. After a youth apprenticeship with Swansea, John is spotted by a Leeds scout, and helps them to win promotion to the First Division. He goes on to become a legend in Italy, honoured in their Hall Of Fame above Michel Platini, Zinedine Zidane and Diego Maradona. And yet, here in the UK, most football fans outside of Wales, Turin and Yorkshire have never heard his name. This book aims to bring his genius to a new generation of young football fans and go some way towards putting that right.
