Miracle on 34th Street

Now available in a new paperback edition, Miracle on 34th Street is the enduring Christmas classic about a Kris Kringle working at Macy's—who might just be Santa Claus! This classic Christmas story follows white-bearded Kris Kringle as he's asked to fill in for Macy's resident Santa Claus. He—along with children from all over New York City—believes he is the real thing. As Kris begins to inspire a feeling of true Christmas generosity and joy throughout the city, among competing department stories, and one particularly special family—a few skeptics are angered and threaten to bring him to court. With the help of his new friends, the State of New York, and the official U.S. Postal Service, Kris proves that magic is all around us. Generations of believers in hope and goodwill have made Valentine Davies’s Miracle on 34th Street a treasured part of their holiday traditions. Millions of copies of this award-winning story have sold since its first publication in 1947, delighting readers of all ages. Details of how the book came to be written, and made into a beloved film, are included in a brief historical note.
